Steps to Enrollment: Orientation and Entrance Exam

We are excited to welcome you to Tri-Community's Court Reporting Program!

Attend a Mandatory Orientation Session and Pass the Entrance Exam

All prospective students must attend one online Zoom orientation session.  Once completed, your orientation will remain valid for one year from your attendance date.  After one year, you will need to attend a new orientation session.  Attendance will be taken at the end of the orientation via a survey.  Please make sure you fill that out completely for attendance purposes. 

Take and Pass the Entrance Exam

The entrance exam will be held online via Zoom and in person.  If you live within 20 miles of our campus, you are expected to take the entrance exam on campus.  Otherwise, the exam will be administered online.

Sign Up for the Orientation

  • Select the Fall 2026 term (tabs are located at the bottom of the spreadsheet).
  • Enter your first and last name exactly as you would when enrolling at Tri-Community.
  • The orientation is held online.
  • Zoom Link

Important Zoom Information

  • All orientations are held via Zoom.  Link above.
  • Please log in five minutes before the scheduled start time.  We will get started at five minutes after the hour.
  • Make sure you first and last name appear in your Zoom window.
  • Having your camera on is appreciated, as it helps us create a more welcoming and engaging session for everyone.

Sign Up for the Entrance Exam

  • The entrance exam will be held online and in person.  If you live within 20 miles of campus, you are expected to take the entrance exam on campus.

  • Enter your first and last name exactly as you would when enrolling at Tri-Community.
  • Follow all instructions listed on the sign-up sheet.
  • If you are taking the entrance exam online, you will log into Zoom.  Link below

After you have attended the Mandatory Orientation, if you would like to take the next step toward registration, you will need to take and pass our entrance exam.  The entrance exam is comprised of 75 questions.  The questions are multiple choice and range from English grammar, punctuation, spelling, word usage, and basic computer terminology and application.  You will need to score an 80% or higher to be eligible for enrollment.

In the event that you do not pass the entrance exam on the first attempt, you may enroll in one of the online courses under Grammar Punctuation Help for Court Reporting Students to update your knowledge and skills.  A certificate from this achievement may be sent to Carrie Ravenscroft at cravenscroft@c-vusd.org.  If there is a second opportunity to test before the start of the term, you may retest at that time.  Otherwise, you would be required to test at the next opportunity which may be for the following term.

Submit Required Admission Documents

  • Complete and submit all required admission documents.
