Required Admission Documents

  • Required Admission Documents & Instructions

    Please review the admission requirements below. You may submit these documents before attending orientation. When corresponding, be sure to indicate whether you are interested in the Machine or Voice program.

    The entrance exam will be administered approximately one week after orientation. Dates are listed on the Orientation Schedule. The exam includes 75 multiple-choice questions covering basic English, vocabulary, punctuation, word usage, and entry-level computer terms.

    Four Required Documents

  • High School Transcript or Equivalent

    • Submit a copy of your high school transcript, high school diploma, GED transcript, or bachelor’s degree diploma or transcript.

    • Scan and convert the document to PDF format.

  • Typing Certificate
    • Candidates must provide a typing certificate showing 45 words per minute, as required by the California Court Reporters Board.

    • You may take the test online at Ratatype Typing Test.

    • Ensure your certificate includes your first and last name and submit it as a PDF.

  • Driver’s License or Official ID
    • Submit a copy of your driver’s license or official DMV-issued ID.

    • Scan and convert the document to PDF format.

  • Gmail Account

  • Create a Gmail address using your first and last name.

  • If you use a middle name or multiple last names, include them as you will on all official documentation.

  • If the address is unavailable, you may add numbers to the end.

  • All admission documents must be submitted using this Gmail address.

  • Combine all four documents as separate PDF attachments in one email.

  • The email must be sent from your required Gmail address and display your full name.
